Music

Dianne Londo skillfully directs the Chancel Choir and Willow Creek Ringers. She also arranges for soloists, duets and other groups to perform. The oranist is Tom Andrew and the choir accompanist is Cynthia O'Lane.

The music program at Willow Creek Presbyterian Church offers many opportunities. We have an adult Chancel Choir which sings most Sundays between Labor Day and Memorial Day. Rehearsals are at 8:30 a.m. on Sundays and the choir sings at the 10:15 a.m. worship service.

We have a handbell choir called the “Willow Creek Ringers” who ring on several Sundays throughout the year. Rehearsals are on Sunday evenings at 5:00 p.m. at the church. We have a three octave set of Schulmrich handbells and additional equipment in order to perform some interesting music. New members are currently needed. We have a very good core of people, but not a full choir. The director would be glad to work with new people in small groups or individually.

When possible we have a children’s choir. In the past the children’s choir has sung for worship, they have combined with the adult choir and have participated in the American Guild of Organist’s Youth Choir Festival. Currently this choir is inactive due to insufficient leadership. It is hoped that the choir will begin again soon.

We have a very talented Praise Band that provides music with a contemporary christian sound at 10:15 a.m.

During the summer months we have special music by church members, friends of the church, soloists, instrumentalists, ensembles, and sometimes the choir. The praise band also varies its music a bit throughout the summer months. We have always had excellent special music of various kinds.

The church is committed to maintaining the excellent Yamaha grand piano in the sanctuary and we recently purchased a new Alan Organ. These good instruments serve us well in many ways. They are great in our worship services and they also provide for visiting artists. In the recent past we have had Cardia Writith, the Northcentral College Choir (Naperville), Rock Valley College choirs, The Wissmann family, and others who enhance our worship and Christian music opportunities. Recitals and other events are also held at the church using these instruments.

All of our musical groups are always looking for new members. We would invite anyone interested in joining our Chancel Choir,Handbell Choir or Praise Band to come to a rehearsal or phone Dianne Londo at 623-8512. Let Dianne know if you’re interested in leading or helping with the children’s choir, too! We have wonderful children and families with which to work.
